How to filter AI slop on X and LinkedIn.

To filter likely AI-written posts with SlopSimple, install the desktop extension, connect your account, and choose a threshold under Hide AI posts. Posts with scores above that threshold collapse after analysis. You can always choose Show post to read them.

No credit card required. Desktop browser extension for X and LinkedIn.

What do we mean by AI slop?

“AI slop” is a loose term for AI-generated content that feels generic, repetitive or low-value to the reader. Those judgments are personal: a useful post can be AI-assisted, and a repetitive one can be entirely human-written.

SlopSimple looks for AI-writing signals in post text. Its score does not measure quality, truth or the author’s expertise. Filtering by that score is one way to shape what you read, with controls to undo it when the result does not fit your preferences.

1. Install and connect your account.

Create an account using an email code, then choose your browser for installation. SlopSimple supports desktop Chrome, Brave, Edge, Firefox, Opera and Safari on macOS. It works in X and LinkedIn web feeds, rather than their native apps.

Open the extension in your browser toolbar and click Sign in. If you are already signed in to the website, that session connects your account. Otherwise, complete email-code sign-in in the opened tab. Keep the platform you want to read enabled in the popup.

An eligible new account starts a 7-day trial at signup, with 20 analyses per day on each platform. The allowance resets at midnight UTC. No credit card is required, and the trial does not automatically charge you.

2. Choose how much you want to hide.

Hide AI posts is enabled by default with a threshold of 80. Use its slider or number input to change it. The filter uses a strict “above” rule:

  • A post scoring 79 stays visible at threshold 80.
  • A post scoring exactly 80 also stays visible.
  • A post scoring 81 is hidden once analysis finishes.

Raise the threshold if you want fewer posts hidden. Lower it if you want to hide posts with weaker signals too. A threshold is a preference setting; it does not guarantee a particular accuracy or false-positive rate in your feed.

Try the interactive threshold example to see how the same scores behave at different settings.

3. Review scores before deciding.

If you prefer to see the signals first, switch filtering off and keep checks enabled. You will see scores beside eligible posts while every post stays visible. Hover, focus or click a badge for details.

Detection can be wrong. Polished human writing may receive a high score, while AI-written or mixed-authorship text may receive a low one. Treat results as estimates rather than proof of authorship. A score of 80 does not mean that 80% of the words were generated by AI.

The homepage benchmark describes an internal transcript comparison. It does not establish accuracy on X or LinkedIn posts.

4. Reveal a post or pause the filter.

On X, hidden posts leave a compact notice. On LinkedIn, they leave a collapsed card. Both include the score and a Show post control. Revealing a post restores the original content, including its links, without changing your threshold.

Changing the threshold updates posts already checked. Switching filtering off restores hidden posts. To pause analysis as well, turn off checks for the platform in the popup. X and LinkedIn can be paused independently; turn both off to stop checking everywhere.

5. Know what stays outside the filter.

Only eligible post body text between 80 and 12,000 characters is checked. Text collapsed behind “see more” or “show more” can be checked when it is already loaded in the page. Images, video, quoted-post text, comments and private messages are excluded.

Posts without an estimate stay visible. That includes posts outside the supported length range. A post may also appear before its check finishes, so the extension cannot promise that you will never see AI-written text.

If eligible posts never receive badges, follow the missing scores and filtering checklist.

Detection processes text externally through TypeSafe AI, with Google Gemini as a fallback. Available creator identifiers accompany analysis requests. Raw post text is not stored in SlopSimple’s application database. Read the full data-handling policy for retention and provider details.

Continue after the trial.

After 7 days, checks pause unless you choose a paid subscription. Plans cost $4.99 monthly or $29.99 annually in USD, plus applicable taxes. Subscribing starts recurring billing immediately and removes the trial daily cap; paid service usage limits still apply. You can manage cancellation in your account. See subscription terms.

For platform-specific setup, read the LinkedIn filter guide or X (Twitter) filter guide. If setup or account linking fails, contact support with your browser version and a description of the problem.
